• In this workshop, we will learn about the history and myths of Ashtanga yoga, and the philosophy that underpins the practice. We will explore the three elements of this unique and energizing practice: the BREATH, which aligns us in time; the BANDHAS, or “energy locks” that align us in space; and the DRISHTI, or gazing points, that align us in our minds. Finally, we will complete the full Ashtanga Primary Series from start to finish (approximately 100 minutes).

    The founder of Ashtanga yoga was fond of saying, "99% practice and 1% theory”, so in keeping with that sentiment, you will leave with everything you need to continue to practice the primary series on your own, including a visual “map” of the practice, along with some written notes to guide and focus your attention and effort.
